Xiaomi took over the country by storm with their new smartphone – POCO F1. The phone is raw power, unlike the Indian smartphone market has ever seen, for a price tag of 21,000.
We truly feel the ‘Master of Speed’ tagline suits the POCO F1 beautifully as it’s not just fast, it is blistering. The phone has everything you could ask for and then some more – A stunning body, a massive RAM, extraordinary cameras(front and rear), and a processor that could give the other flagships a run for their money.
Interface
POCO F1 comes with Android Oreo 8.1. However, Xiaomi has taken it up a notch with their MIUI that is tailor-made for the POCO. It is extremely lightweight and amazingly fast. It provides the user with a faster app startup experience along with smoother movement and navigation. The new app drawer is highly customizable and intuitive and it makes searching for apps extremely easy by categorizing them smartly. You can give a colour theme to your apps, hide them, and can even use 3rd party app icons to give your phone a more customised look.
Body
A stunning body with a beautiful finish makes POCO F1 a delight to hold. The 6.18-inch screen with a splendid edge to edge display and a resolution of 1080×2246 is protected by the famous Corning Gorilla Glass. However, the real magic lies in its body. Xiaomi went all in with their most high-end model – POCO F1 Armoured Edition. Its back panel is built with Kevlar Aramid Fibre. This material is used for military and high-end sports applications and is extremely durable and heat-resistant. It’s uniquely stunning texture makes it a pleasure for the eyes, making it the ultimate fusion of beauty and power.
Performance
POCO F1’s performance is off-the-charts. Never before such high-end specifications came at such an affordable price tag. POCO F1 is an absolute beast. It has a Snapdragon 845 Octa-Core processor, with higher-end models sporting a massive 8 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage to which you can add a 256 GB memory card as well.
But that’s just the beginning of it. F1 comes with Liquidcool Technology that will keep your phone cool during those intense gaming sessions, without compromising on performance. Camera
Xiaomi really took their camera game to the next level. POCO F1 has AI dual camera on the rear and a 20 MP high-resolution camera on the front. The AI dual camera deserves a special mention as it is one of the first few of a new breed of cameras as it integrates AI with the photography process. What this means for the common user is that it can smartly distinguish the photos that need optimisations such as change in exposure, saturation, etc. It can detect different scenes and places and can apply these optimisations intuitively. The hardware is equally impressive with 12 MP + 5 MP dual camera, a 1.4μm pixel sensor, incredible autofocus along with hardware multi-frame noise reduction.
The front camera is no slouch either. The 20 MP with 2μm large pixel selfie camera takes stunningly lifelike pictures. Add to that AI Beautify 4.0 and bokeh effect and you get professional quality photos, every time.
Battery and other features
Xiaomi claims that POCO can provide 30 hours talk time on a single charge which doesn’t seem far-fetched considering it has a mammoth 4000 mAh battery. Add to that Quick Charge 3.0 and you have an incredible phone that charges in minutes and gives you plenty of playtime. POCO also has face detection and unlocking that even works in the dark, thanks to its amazing infrared light sensor. And yes, it has our beloved 3.5mm audio jack intact.
Price
POCO F1 is available in 3 storage options: 6 GB RAM and 64 GB Memory which is priced at INR 20,999. The next one comes with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage and has a price tag of INR 23,999. The highest version comes with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage and is priced INR 28,999. But there is one more variant, perhaps the best one. The Armoured Edition comes with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage along with the famous Kevlar Aramid Fibre back. It is tough and is priced at INR 29,999.
